Utah Valley baseball to host fall exhibition Saturday

OREM, Utah – The Utah Valley University baseball team will host its lone home fall exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at UCCU Ballpark against in-state foe Dixie State.

Admission will be free of charge to the exhibition scrimmage against the future fellow WAC foe, as Dixie State is set to begin the transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I competition next year and join the Western Athletic Conference in 2020-21.

Saturday's exhibition game will be the first of two scheduled fall scrimmages for the Wolverines, as UVU is also scheduled to play a road contest at the College of Southern Nevada on Saturday, Nov. 9. Utah Valley and the NJCAA Coyotes are set for an 11 a.m. MT/noon PT start that day at Morse Stadium in Henderson, Nevada.

UVU welcomes back five position-player starters from last year's squad that made a deep run at the 2019 WAC Baseball Tournament, which included a win over the eventual tournament champion Sacramento State Hornets. In 2019, the Wolverines picked up wins over Pac-12 foes Utah and Washington State, as well as NCAA Tournament teams Fresno State and Sac State, and regular season 2019 WAC champion New Mexico State.

Saturday's exhibition will be an early chance to check out the 2020 UVU roster that features a total of 16 newcomers and 21 returners.
