COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – Utah Valley University senior
Kaylee Shimizu is leading the way for the Wolverines after 36 holes of play at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational, as she'll enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 21st place at 5-over-par.
Shimizu carded rounds of 72 (+1) and 75 (+4) during Monday's opening day of play at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course to currently sit just outside of the top-20 with a 5-over-par 147. The senior also led the Wolverines on the day in birdies with six after recording a trio of birdies in each round.
Fellow senior
Kate Williamson is next for UVU, as she'll enter Tuesday's final round currently tied for 39th place with an 8-over-par 150. Williamson recorded a pair of 75s on the day to sit in the top-40 in the event. Junior
Bailey Henley and sophomore
Nathalie Irlbacher follow in UVU's third and fourth spots, as Henley is currently tied for 58th with a 10-over-par 152 (76-76), while Irlbacher is tied for 70th with a 14-over 156 (81-75).
As a team, UVU will enter Tuesday's final round tied for 15th with a 37-over-par 605 (304-301). The host Gonzaga Bulldogs lead the event at 3-over-par (284-287—571), while Nevada (291-292—583) and Idaho (292-291—583) are tied for second, and Washington State (290-295—585), BYU (299-286—585) and FIU (288-297—585) are tied for fourth. Gonzaga's Jessica Mangrobang is leading the way individually at 2-under-par (71-69—140).
Utah Valley freshmen
Lauren Taylor (81-77—158) and
Victoria Estrada (82-76—158) too are taking part in the event for the Wolverines and will both enter Tuesday in a tie for 74th place at 16-over-par. Estrada is participating in the tournament as an individual while Taylor is playing for the team.
