RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Due to high winds in the Riverside area, the 2020 Battle at the Rock women's golf tournament at Oak Quarry Golf Club has officially been cancelled and will not be made up.
After having both rounds suspended due to unplayable conditions due to high winds on Monday, the 17-team field looked to get a single round of 18 holes in on Tuesday. But just five holes in, the winds picked back up and again made the course unplayable resulting in the cancellation of the tournament.
Besides the Wolverines and host UC Riverside Highlanders, Boise State, California Baptist, Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield, CSUN, Cal State Fullerton, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Santa Clara, Southern Illinois, UC Davis, and Wyoming were all in Southern California in hopes to open their spring campaigns.
The Wolverines will now return to Utah and will next head to Phoenix to take part at the GCU Invitational on Grand Canyon University Golf Course on Feb. 22-23. The BYU at Entrada Classic will then follow on March 9-10 at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah.
