Wolverines open final seven-game homestand with Stephen F. Austin

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley opens a seven-game homestand with a three-game series beginning on May 5 with Stephen F. Austin. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. MT. The series continues on May 6 with a 2:05 p.m. MT start and concludes on May 7 with a 12:05 p.m. MT first pitch. It will mark the first time UVU and SFA have met on the diamond.

All games will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats on UVUstats.com.

The Wolverines dropped a series in the Old Hammer Rivalry to Utah Tech last weekend. After the Trailblazers hit six homers to win the series opening game, UVU rallied to score a season-high 23 runs on 22 hits on Saturday. The solid offensive output was the third most runs scored in a game and the most in a seven-inning game. Cole Jordan and Matthew Schwarz each had six RBIs in the game as Jordan hit two homers in a game for the second time of the year.

ABOUT THE LUMBERJACKS
Stephen F. Austin was picked to finish 13th by WAC coaches in the preseason poll, but so far, has played above the projection. Alex Rodgers is the leading hitter for the Jacks and enters this weekend hitting .369 on the year with eight homers. The strength of SFA is in the bats, as they have six hitters over .300 on the season and are third in the conference in hits.

SIMPLY STRIKING
Junior Casey Anderson leads the WAC and is 27th nationally in strikeouts per nine innings at 12.49. In his first year at UVU, he is currently 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA. He and teammate Logan Gerling each have 19 strikeouts looking on the season and are now in 14th place for strikeouts looking in a season.
