GREENSBORO, N.C. – Utah Valley Baseball was one of over 450 collegiate programs to earn the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award. It is the third consecutive year that UVU has earned the award and the fifth time since the 2015-2016 year.
"Academics is one of the four pillars of our culture, and the classroom experience will play a large role in the lives of our athletes for the rest of their lives. To see our team recognized at a national level for their achievement in the classroom speaks volumes about the priorities and character of our players," said UVU head coach
Eddie Smith.
To earn the designation, the team must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale during the 2022-2023 academic year. The Wolverines had 19 players make the spring Academic All-WAC team, and two earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.
UVU was joined by WAC foes Abilene Christian, California Baptist, Grand Canyon, and UTRGV on the list of award recipients.
