OREM, Utah – Major college baseball publication D1 Baseball released their WAC season preview this week. The Wolverines were selected to finish second in the WAC, and UVU had multiple players listed as top draft prospects for either 2024 or 2025.
The Wolverines finished in third place in the WAC last season with a 16-12 clip in WAC games and a 34-24 overall record. The 16 wins were the most in recent seasons during conference play since Utah Valley won 18 WAC games in 2016 before winning the WAC Tournament and advancing to the Baton Rogue Regional.
Grand Canyon was selected to win the conference by D1 Baseball. California Baptist was picked third behind Utah Valley and was followed by UT Arlington, Abilene Christian, Sacramento State, UT Rio Grande Valley, Seattle U, Tarleton State, Stephen F. Austin, and Utah Tech.

Daniel Dickinson was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year, with Grand Canyon's Daniel Avitia as Pitcher of the Year. Freshman of the Year was awarded to GCU hurler Connor Mattison.
The Wolverines had five players listed in the 2024 Draft Top Prospect list with
Braden Boisvert (No. 3),
Eli Sundquist (No. 10),
Ethan Fowlks (No. 19),
Nate Bach (No. 20),
Matthew Schwarz (No. 24), and
Mitch Mueller (No. 26).
The 2025 class was led by Dickinson, coming in at No. 1, sophomore
Luke Iverson, finishing at No. 9, with
Cougar Cooke rounding out the impressive talent pool at No. 14.
The 2024 season officially begins on Friday, Feb. 16, with a 3:00 p.m. MT start against CSUN. The home opener is scheduled for Friday, Mar. 1, at 4:05 p.m. MT against Portland.
