OREM, Utah – Utah Valley baseball heads to WCC foe Saint Mary's this weekend for a four-game series to conclude an eight-game season-opening road trip in the Golden State.
The series begins on Friday, Feb. 23, at 3:00 p.m. MT from Louis Guisto Field. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Noon MT and 3:00 p.m. MT. The final game of the weekend is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2:00 p.m. MT. All games will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on UVU stats.com.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines enter the series with a 2-2 record after winning two out of three at CSUN for their fourth consecutive weekend series win. They dropped the final game of the weekend to UC Riverside at the Plex. UVU was led by
Calyn Halvorson, who went 5-for-14 on the weekend with a homer and five RBIs, and
Daniel Dickinson added a 5-for-15 weekend with a two-run home run to lift UVU in game two of the series at CSUN.
ABOUT THE GAELS
Saint Mary's won two of three last weekend at home over Oakland from the Horizon League. SMC will throw Orem native Derek Eaquinto in the series opener. He struck out seven over 4.2 innings on opening weekend to help the Gaels to the series win. They hit .319 as a team in their first three games of the year, scoring 24 runs to average seven runs a game. In the WCC Preseason poll, they were picked to finish fourth behind Santa Clara, San Diego, and Portland. Infielder Christian Almanza, Coleman Schmidt, and Connor Linchey were both picked to the Preseason All-WCC team.
FACING THE WCC
The Wolverines have won 35 games against teams from the West Coast Conference. They will play Saint Mary's, Portland, and Gonzaga this year in the non-conference schedule.

The Wolverines return home for the home opener next weekend with a three-game series starting on Friday, Mar. 1 against the University of Portland. Utah Valley hosts Gonzaga for the first time since 2010 on Monday, Mar. 4 at 2:05 p.m. MT.
