OREM, Utah—Utah Valley continues to have players sign professional contracts.
Calyn Halvorson has signed with the Grand Junction Jackalopes of the Pioneer League, making him the fourth player on the 2024 roster to sign a professional contract.
"Calyn came to Utah Valley as a highly touted slugger and lived up to the hype. Every day he went out and played hard for his team," said UVU head coach
Eddie Smith.
Halvorson played two seasons in Orem and was a constant in the Wolverine's lineup. He leaves Orem as .306 career batting average in 106 games played. The right-handed slugger set a career-high with ten homers and 45 RBIs in 2024. One of his biggest jumps came in walks, going from nine walks in 2023 to 32 in 2024.
The Grand Junction Jackalopes, based in Grand Junction, Colo., play in the Pioneer League. Halvorson joins five others in the league, including 2024 teammate
Cole Jordan, who recently signed with the Ogden Raptors.
Isaac Lovings, Mitch Moralez, and
Patrick Mills currently play for the Billings Mustangs, and Drew Sims plays for the Glacier Range Riders.
Seven former Wolverines have now signed professional deals in the
Eddie Smith era. In total, UVU currently has nine playing professional baseball with Paxton Schultz (Buffalo),
Casey Anderson (Visalia), and
Garrett Broussard (Windy City) also playing in various leagues.
