AUSTIN, Texas – Utah Valley senior
Burke Camper was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team on Tuesday. The UVU designated hitter is the second in program history and the first since Billy Burgess was named to the third team in 2012.
"
Burke Camper embodies the Utah Valley Baseball Program in every way. What he has been able to do in our uniform has completely transformed this entire campus, and this award is a great recognition for his work in the classroom and on the field," said UVU head coach
Eddie Smith.
Camper was named UVU's Perry Homes Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Sunday after holding a 3.97 GPA in Exercise Science and Outdoor Recreation program. He is a two-time Academic All-WAC selection, and earlier this year, he was honored by College Sports Communicators on their Academic All-District team.
The three-time Buster Posey Watchlist member and a 2024 semifinalist for the award finished the season with a .293 batting average after playing in 55 games for UVU. He set top marks in single-season home runs when with 18, which places him in a three-way tie for first place. He set the program record when he was hit 36 times while recording a .477 on-base percentage.
He earned the TicketSmarter WAC Hitter of the Week Award for his performance after leading the Wolverines to a series win at California Baptist. Camper reached base 14 times in the series, scoring eight runs, with three extra-base hits in Riverside. The Wolverine senior picked up first-team All-WAC honors in 2024.
Camper is the ninth in Utah Valley history to receive the honor and UVU's second this year, with Sydney Bushman of UVU women's soccer taking home the honor in the fall.
