ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley infielder
Dominic Longo II was named Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Hitter of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Mar. 16. It's the first time that he has won the honor. WAC Pitcher of the Week went to Ryan Kittredge of California Baptist.
"Dom has really started to come into his own over the past couple of weeks. He's made incredible strides as a hitter, fielder, and baserunner. This is just the start for him," said UVU head coach
Nate Rasmussen.
Longo II finished the week 12-for-18 (.667) with two home runs and ten RBIs while adding eight runs scored and stole five bases on six attempts. Six of his 12 hits went for extra bases. In the series finale against Northern Colorado, he finished 5-for-6 with four RBIs to help UVU secure the five-game sweep. It's the first time a hitter has recorded a five-hit game since Ryan Eastburn in 2019.
He has a slash line of .346/.433/.667 to help the Wolverines offense this season, with 15 of his 27 hits going for extra bases.
The Wolverines will travel to the Pacific Northwest this weekend to play a three-game conference series with Seattle U starting on Friday, Mar. 21. UVU will also travel to Portland on Monday, Mar. 24, to play one game with the Pilots.
