OREM, Utah – Utah Valley baseball will return to the road this weekend for a five-game series against Northern Colorado. The series begins on Friday, Mar. 7, at 2:00 p.m. MT from Jackson Field. The Wolverines are making their first trip to UNC since the two shared membership in the Western Athletic Conference.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines split their home opening series last weekend with UC Davis. After dropping the first game 22-7, they quickly came back to sweep the Saturday doubleheader with a 9-6 win before
Brody Block came through with a walk-off hit to secure the sweep. The Aggies rallied late on Sunday to earn the series split.
Jayden Smith led the way offensively with a 9-for-17 weekend to finish with a .529 average. The senior finished with three extra-base hits and scored five runs in the series.
Mason Strong added an 8-for-19 performance with a home run and four RBIs.
Joe McBride and
CJ Colyer eached went 2-for-5 in the series.
On the mound,
Colton Kennedy set a new career-high with 5 1/3 innings pitched on Saturday in the first game of the doubleheader. He tied his career-high with five strikeouts while only allowing two hits and limiting opposing hitters to a .125 average.
Ray Hernandez made his home debut with three innings without allowing a hit and surrendered one walk.
Wayland Crane tossed six innings in the series finale with three strikeouts and only two runs. Another strong performance from the bullpen, with
Alan Huerta going two innings to earn the win with three strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Northern Colorado will host their first home games of the season this weekend. The Bears are 5-7 overall this season and are coming off a series loss in Reno to Nevada. Jake King leads the UNC offense, who has 23 hits this season with a .442 average, and Carter Monda is hitting .350. Kai Wagner leads the team with three of the team's seven homers this season. On the hill, they hold a team ERA OF 8.94.
ALL-TIME SERIES WITH NORTHERN COLORADO
The Wolverines and Bears have met over 60 times, with Utah Valley holding the all-time edge at 40-22. The two teams played regularly while both teams were in the WAC before UNC left for the Summit League. The two teams split the last series in 2021, but UVU won the series in the 2019 season in Greeley.
