OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Utah Valley baseball freshman Landon Zaborowski was named to the Watchlist of the John Olerud Award, which is given annually to the best two-way Player in College Baseball.

"Landon has a bright future for us on both sides of the ball. He has shown serious glimpses of being a stud at both. We are excited for what the future continues to hold for him," said UVU head coach Nate Rasmussen.

This season, the Gilbert, Ariz., native has tossed 22 2/3 innings this season in eight appearances, including two starts, and holds a 2-2 record. His season-long outing came in Greeley against Northern Colorado, where he went 5 1/3 innings, allowing four hits, and struck out four Bears to earn his first collegiate win. He struck out a career-high nine hitters in four innings in relief against Seattle U, limiting the Redhawks to just two hits.

At the plate, he has tallied four official at-bats for the Wolverines, including his first collegiate hit at San Jose State. He has a .250 batting average and a .400 on-base percentage after working a walk on Sunday at Grand Canyon.

Zaborowski and the Wolverines travel to nearby Brigham Young University to take on BYU on Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 6:00 p.m. MT. They return to UCCU Ballpark to open an eight-game homestand starting with Tarleton State on Thursday, Apr. 17.
