LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines dropped their first season conference series over the weekend to Tarleton State. Despite the losing effort, Utah Valley tallied a .383 batting average led by Brody Block, who finished 7-for-11, and Mason Strong, who went 7-for-12 in the series with a home run and eight RBIs. UVU fell victim to Tarleton State's offensive attack, but had relievers Alan Huerta, Carter Krosky, and Cooper Littledike all record scoreless outings.

SCOUTING BYU
The Cougars enter the game in Orem at a 19-18 clip and 6-12 in the Big 12. They dropped a series to No. 22 Arizona in Provo over the weekend. They won the season's first meeting last week at Miller Park as Ryder Robinson finished 3-for-5 with Crew McChesney, Luke Anderson, Tate Gambill, and Keoni Painter all recording two hits.

SCOUTING UTAH
The Wolverines will get their first look at the Utes on Tuesday, who enter the game at 16-19 and 5-13 against Big 12 opponents. They dropped their last series in Waco against Baylor. Shortstop Core Jackson leads the Utes this season with a .392 average, eight home runs, and 33 RBIs. He is on the watchlist for the Brooks Wallace award for the nation's top shortstop. Watch out for Austen Roellig, Santino Panaro, and Tyler Quinn, all of whom are hitting over .300.

On the mound, Utah has a team ERA of 6.00 with opponents hitting .290 against the staff. Colter McAnelly and Merit Jones have been two of their best arms.

ALL-TIME AGAINST THE FOES
With last week's win in Provo, BYU moved to 37-11 in the all-time series. The Wolverines' last win in Orem came in 2023 on a walk-off single by Luke Iverson. Utah holds a 38-27 record and has won the previous three meetings. The Wolverines, though, have won two of the last three meetings at UCCU Ballpark.

SCHULTZ MAKES HIS BIG LEAGUE DEBUT
Former Utah Valley Paxton Schultz made his major league debut on Sunday, Apr. 20, for the Toronto Blue Jays. He tossed 4 1/3 innings against the Seattle Mariners, allowing just two hits, and added eight strikeouts. He struck out the first hitter faced, in MLB veteran Donovan Solano, and ended his day with a second strikeout on MLB All-Star catcher Cal Raleigh.
UP NEXT
Utah Valley will host California Baptist in a three-game WAC series beginning on Friday, Apr. 25. It will be the second-to-last home series of the season, with the final homestand being with Sacramento State on May 9-11.
