LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines dropped a 9-5 midweek game Tuesday night to Utah Utes baseball. The Utes hit five home runs as Utah Valley battled back early, taking a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning on a two-run homer by Cooper Brass before Joseph Barnhardt hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning. Chipper Beck finished 3-for-4, while Trenton Rowan went 3-for-3 for Utah Valley.

SCOUTING ABILENE CHRISTIAN
The Wildcats enter the weekend series 23-25 overall and 6-6 in WAC play after winning a weekend series at Sacramento State last weekend. The series features the top three power hitters in the league, with Hunter Katschke and Diego Cardenas tied for the conference lead with 20 home runs each. ACU's Grant Watkins ranks third in the league with 19 home runs.

Abilene Christian is led offensively by JT Thompson (.322) and Zandt Payne (.321), who set the table for the middle of the order.

On the mound, the Wildcats have not been as sharp as in previous seasons and enter the weekend with a 6.75 team ERA. ACU is expected to start Pittsburgh transfer Aidan Coleman on Friday night after he emerged as the leader of the starting staff this season. Brett Lanman continues to pile up strikeouts, averaging more than one per inning, but UVU tagged him for six runs last season in Orem.
