Wolverines Host BYU Tuesday on Senior Night

What's On Deck ...
Utah Valley State (14-32) will host BYU on Tuesday, May 2nd at 7pm on Senior Night for 10 Wolverine seniors.

It will the third meeting of the season between the Wolverines and Cougars, with BYU winning the first two games.

Utah Valley is coming off of a series with No. 1 ranked (NAIA) Lewis-Clark State.

After dropping the first game 14-7, the Wolverines came back in the second game to steal a win away from the Warriors with a five-run seventh inning.

The UV win ended Lewis-Clark's 26-game winning streak and left them one win shy of tying a school record. LCSC came back to win on the final day to take the series from Utah Valley.

Senior Night ...
Kade Boyer, Nick Connor, Brett Guerrero, Brad Hales, Reno Mendenhall, Kam Mickolio, Cory Newton, Kalen Parsons, Kyle Tash and Canyon Vance are the 10 who will suit up for the final time in Orem against their in-state rivals.

Mendenhall is the lone four-year Wolverine in the group while Vance has spent three seasons in Orem and carries a .335 career batting average with 12 home runs and 88 runs batted in.

Connor leads Utah Valley State in 2006 with a .442 batting average and holds a career average of .367.

Scouting the Opposition ...
BYU (22-22, 7-6 in Mtn. West) has won six straight games including a five-game sweep in Colorado against Northern Colorado (twice) and Air Force (three times).

In the series at Air Force, BYU outscored the Falcons by a combined score of 54-14 including a 27-5 win in the second game of the series.

The Cougars are led at the plate by Ben Saylor, who is batting .341 with 15 home runs and 46 runs batted in. 

Freshman Jordan Muir lead the BYU pitching staff with a 2.25 ERA and a 5-0 record in 2006. 

Up Next ...
The Wolverines will travel to Pullman, Washington to take on the Pac-10's Washington State Cougars in a three-game series beginning Saturday, May 6th through Monday 8th. 

They will then play Utah for the sixth and final time this season on Tuesday, May 9th at 3pm at Ute Field.
