OREM, Utah - Utah Valley Baseball is scheduled to host Dallas Baptist in a three-game series beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. MT at Brent Brown Ballpark. The teams are also scheduled to play Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. All three games can be heard at WolverineGreen.com.
The Wolverines (11-24) went 2-3 last week, defeating Utah 8-2 before dropping three of four at Sacramento State. Dick Bargewell earned the Great West Conference Player of the Week award after going 9-for-11 (.818) during the week.
The Huskies (22-11) have lost three straight including a 4-3 defeat on Monday at Texas-San Antonio. Dallas Baptist has a team batting average of .340, which ranks 16th nationally, and has slugged 58 home runs this year.
Jace Brinkerhoff leads UVU with a .426 average with 12 doubles and ranks fifth in the nation with 60 hits on the year. Sage Thorpe is right behind Brinkerhoff with a .413 average.
Justin Smith (4-3, 5.55) is scheduled to start Thursday's opener on the mound and has won his last three starts.
The Wolverines host Southern Utah in a quick two-game series next Monday and Tuesday with both games set for 6 p.m.
