OREM, Utah – Utah Valley baseball competes this week at the University Credit Union WAC Baseball Tournament in Mesa, Ariz. UVU will open the tournament on Wednesday, May 22, at 1:00 p.m. MT against No. 7 seed UT Rio Grande Valley.

Ryan Pickens will have the call from Mesa.
The Wolverines are coming off losing a series to Grand Canyon last weekend in Orem. UVU won the series opener with a 16-11 win on Friday night before dropping the next two games.
Garrett Broussard finished the weekend going 7 for 13 (.538), including a home run in the game on Saturday.
Isaac Lovings went 4 for 8 (.500) with a home run and four RBIs.
Braden Boisvert had a stellar outing in the second game tossing seven innings with four hits, and six strikeouts.
ABOUT THE VAQUEROS
Utah Valley won the series earlier this year in Edinburg after dropping a 7-6 nailbiter; they bounced back and won an 8-6 extra inning contest before winning the Sunday finale 6-4. WAC First Teamers
Daniel Dickinson and
Burke Camper each homered in the series, and UVU hit .275 in the series. Boisvert and
Mitch Mueller anchored the rotation for the Wolverines.
THREE FINISH WITH ALL-WAC HONORS
Daniel Dickinson,
Burke Camper, and
Luke Iverson all earned spots on the 2024 All-WAC team as voted on by WAC coaches. Dickinson earned his second First Team nod. The senior Camper was voted to the First Team for the first time. Iverson was given the award as designated hitter on the WAC's Second Team.
BACK TO MESA
The Wolverines are 12-12 all-time in the WAC Tournament and made their third championship game appearance last year. UVU went 3-2 in last year's tournament with wins over Seattle U, Sam Houston, and UT Arlington. The Bearkats bounced back and won both games in the Championship to earn the auto bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

If the Wolverines beat UTRGV, they will play on Thursday, May 23, at 9:00 a.m. MT. If they lose to the Vaqueros they will play at 8:00 p.m. MT on Thursday.
