ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced its weekly baseball awards Tuesday afternoon, with Utah Valley's
Kaden Carpenter earning University Credit Union WAC Hitter of the Week honors. It marks the first time he has won a conference player of the week award in his collegiate career. Utah Tech's Talan Kelly earned the Pitcher of the Week honors.
"Kaden committed to a simpler approach this week, and he was rewarded for it," UVU head coach
Nate Rasmussen said. "When he allows the game to come to him, he is very scary in the box."
The American Fork native had an outstanding weekend at the plate for the Wolverines. He finished 8-for-17 with two homers and 11 RBIs. Both home runs came in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, when he took both pitches to the opposite field. His ability to get on base was key, as he posted a .550 on-base percentage with five extra-base hits over the weekend.
This past weekend, he recorded three multi-RBI games, including three RBIs on Friday, and added three more in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader before setting a season-high four RBIs, one shy of the career high he set at Utah in 2024.
The Wolverines return to action this weekend for a five-game series against Northern Colorado. First pitch in the series is set for Friday, March 6, at 4:05 p.m. MT at UCCU Ballpark.
