OREM, Utah — Utah Valley's Hunter Katschke was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) third-team Academic All-America on Tuesday morning. Katschke also earned first-team All-WAC honors during a historic season for the UVU slugger.

"Each guy that comes to Utah Valley wants to dominate on the field. What is awesome is when they also dominate in the classroom," Utah Valley head coach Nate Rasmussen said. "Hunter Katschke broke our home run record and now is an Academic All-American. I can't wait to see what this young man does in life."

Katschke hit 22 home runs to break Utah Valley's single-season record during the 2026 season. In his only season in Orem, Katschke hit .291 with 57 hits, including 13 doubles and one triple. The slugger recorded four multi-home run games, including four homers against former team Utah Tech in the Old Hammer Rivalry.

During his Division I career, Katschke was named to the CSC Academic All-District team twice and earned Academic All-WAC honors in both seasons.

Katschke has begun his professional baseball career, playing for the Savannah Visitors while training for the next Banana Ball draft.

Utah Valley has now had 15 athletes earn Academic All-America recognition, as voted on by members of College Sports Communicators, an organization of sports information directors across collegiate athletics.
