Utah Valley University hosts BYU on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the third and final meeting between the in-state rivals this season. The game is a make up of the originally scheduled April 26 contest that was postponed due to rain, and will also serve as the rubber match with the teams splitting the first two contests.

The Wolverines (28-19) defeated the then-No. 26 Cougars (31-13) last Tuesday in Provo in 11 innings. With UVU down a run in the ninth, Justin Erlandson singled and scored the tying run to force extra innings. He later delivered the go-ahead home run in the top of the 11th and Zac Willis provided a key insurance run with an RBI single as UVU hung to to defeat BYU 7-6.

Over the weekend Utah Valley took two of three on the road at Sacramento State in a pivotal WAC series. The series win allowed the Wolverines to move into a tie with the Hornets in third place in the conference standings while also securing a berth in the WAC Tournament in Mesa later in May.

UVU was shut out, 8-0, in the opener but returned the favor in a 5-0 shutout in Saturday's middle contest. Danny Beddes took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and ended up with just two hits allowed in eight innings of work.

In the finale, Jake Mayer lasted 7.2 innings and Kyle Valgardson -- who also finished off Saturday's win -- got the final four outs to earn his seventh save of the season and add to his school-record total of 16 career saves.

The Wolverines trailed 1-0 in the sixth before Willis and Greyson Bogden went back-to-back for the second time this season, doing so on consecutive pitches on Sunday. Two batters later Craig Brinkerhoff also hit a solo home run for a three-run inning in the 3-2 win.

BYU lost two of three over the weekend at Pepperdine in West Coast Conference play. The Cougars won the opener before dropping the last two, including a 4-3 loss in the finale on Saturday. BYU is tied with Gonzaga and currently one game back of league leader Saint Mary's with six games to go.
