QUICK HITS
  • Utah Valley University opens the final month of the regular season with a WAC series at New Mexico State beginning Friday night in Las Cruces at 6 p.m. MT. Saturday's game begins at 2 p.m. with Sunday's finale at noon MT.

  • The Wolverines will play six of their final nine WAC games on the road and must creep into the top six in order to qualify for the WAC Tournament in Mesa, Arizona, which begins Wednesday, May 23 at Hohokam Stadium.

  • Utah Valley dropped a tough, 7-6, contest against Arizona on Tuesday night in a home game that was played at BYU's Miller Park in Provo. The Wolverines built a 5-0 lead before the Wildcats came back to score the next seven runs and hold off UVU by a run.

  • Freshman right-hander Drew Hill, who leads the team with five saves, made his first career start on the mound and was impressive. Hill allowed just one run on three hits while striking out six in 6.0 innings of work. He left in line for a win and with UVU leading 5-1.

  • Trevor Howell had three hits against the Wildcats while Ryan Eastburn, Trevor Peterson, and Callahan Moltzan each had two-hit days. Eastburn tripled and drove in two runs for UVU.

  • Last weekend, the Wolverines dropped three of four at Saint Mary's, losing two of the three games by just two runs. UVU's lone win of the weekend was a 6-3 victory in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader.

  • In the win, David Modler delivered a go-ahead, three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give the Wolverines a 5-3 lead at the time.

  • Paxton Schultz matched his career-high with seven strikeouts on Saturday at Saint Mary's. The Wolverines won the ballgame but Schultz did not factor into the decision.

  • Next week, Utah Valley returns to UCCU Ballpark to host Seattle U beginning Friday, May 11.
